We’re consulting widely on Smart metering and Smart grids, looking at how any proposed changes may affect settlement and our customers, and proactively proposing solutions.

We’re also considering the impact of the low-carbon economy, and particularly the challenges that electrifying transport and relying more on renewable energy sources will bring.

Profiling and Settlement Review Cost Benefit Analysis

The Profiling and Settlement Review Group (PRSG), led by ELEXON, has found that Suppliers can save up to £50m over the next five years by taking full advantage of the benefits of half-hourly metering. We’ve published our results for large commercial and industrial customers in profile classes 5-8, and you can read the full report and appendices here.

We will publish our findings for the smaller commercial and domestic users in Profile classes 1-4 later this year.

ELEXON Responses to Industry Consultations

We monitor and respond to consultations that may have an impact on the provisions in the BSC, on ELEXON, or – through ELEXON – on our customers. We respond to consultations if we think that an area of the BSC may be affected or where clarification of the BSC provisions is of benefit to the consultation. Some of these consultations also elicit a response from the BSC Panel.
