CP1261 has been raised by Elexon on behalf of the Smart Metering Expert Group. The CP proposes the introduction of a new Code of Practice that should facilitate the use of smart metering in the elective HH market and in so doing, make it more viable for Suppliers to move from NHH to HH without incurring significant costs.

CP1261 was raised on 27 August 2008 from DCP0033. CP1261 has been issued for Participant Impact Assessment via CPC00642 on 05 September 2008. CP1261 was presented to the ISG on 28 October 2008 and the SVG on 04 November 2008 for a decision on progression. The ISG & SVG approved CP1261 for inclusion in the February 2009 Release. CP1261 was implemented on 26 February 2009 as part of the February 2009 Release.
