A licensed entity that was formed from the 12 nationalised electricity area boards in E&W when the ESI was first deregulated in 1990. The PES was responsible for the Distribution System and the Supply to Franchised customers within its area until those markets where liberated in 1994 and 1998. Was also know as a Regional electricity Company (REC)
