Using This Site
This section explains how the site is laid out, where to go to find information
and documentation of interest and how to get the most out of some of the new features.
About the Page Layout
- Page Title – shown at the top of each page, this tells you the title of the current
page.
- ELEXON Logo - available from each page, this is a direct link to the homepage.
- Search Box – available from each page, this provides a standard keyword search function.
- Left-Hand Menu – this has been designed to make navigating the site as simple as
possible and is available from each page. The top level links (the only ones shown
when viewed from the homepage) each represent a different section of the website.
When a link to a section is clicked and the browser moves to that section, the menu
expands to provide links to subsections therein. Links to the subsections are known
as 2nd level navigation items and any pages that sit within any of these subsections
are said to be on the 3rd level. The menu will continue expand when clicked,
to expose links to pages down to the 4th level. Links to pages that sit below
the 4th level are available from within the text or from the Related Links menue
of the pages that refer to them.
- Breadcrumb Trail – shown near the top of each page, this tells you where you are
on the site. It is clickable and will enable you to go up one or more levels from
where you are.
- Print this Page - sends a copy of the page content to your printer with the page
banners and main navigation stripped out for clarity.
- myELEXON Log In - from any page, enter your email address and password to log in
and benefit from the personalisation features afforded by
myELEXON.
- Document Searches - in addition to the main search function (3) on the site, some
sections have their own individual search facilities to help you quickly find a
document within a specific category.
- Right-Hand Resource Links - Related Links and Related Documents menus are available
on many pages of the site. These menus contain content related to the page
that you are viewing. The content of these menus will change from time
to time.
- Document Icons – next to each document available from the website is a document
icon to tell you what type of document is being referred to, e.g. MS Word document
or Adobe PDF document. For additional help with navigating the site please
contact
webmaster@elexon.co.uk.
- Help Panel - provides links to relevant help information, e.g. if a page contains
PDF documents, the Help box refers to sources of information relating to PDF documents.
