Welcome to Project Isis
We created Project Isis to ensure that the BSC Systems operated and maintained by our main BSC Agents continue to be robust and efficient. We have procured the operating and hosting services contracts until 2014. Our development and maintenance contracts expire in March 2010.
The BSC Systems are the IT hardware and software that settle electricity imbalances daily. Central Volume Allocation (CVA), Supplier Volume Allocation (SVA) and Funds Administration are the processes that ensure balancing and settlement happen.
Objectives
Project Isis will:
-
Plan and deliver fair, open, transparent procurements to maintain, support and develop the seven BSC Systems that deliver the CVA, SVA and Funds Administration services.
-
Enable us to work with our current and future service providers to plan the exit management for the services.
-
Enable us to work with our current and future service providers to plan and manage a secure transition to the new services.
-
Deliver value for money and efficiencies to our customers.
What we’ve procured
Phase 1 - Business Process Outsourcing, Hosting and Communications of the BSC Agents delivering CVA, SVA and Funds Administration. We awarded the contract covering these services to Logica in April 2008 and these run until March 2014.
Implementing Phase 1
In 2008/9, Logica replaced the dated CVA Communications Network. This year it’s delivering a technology refresh and transitioning the SVA services from the existing service provider. We provide updates on progress through Newscast and ELEXON Circulars.
What we're doing now?
We’re now in Phase 2 – procuring the services for the management and development of the hardware and software. In 2008, we reviewed our strategy for managing the systems that underpin settlement and investigated options. We issued a Request for Information (RFI) to find out whether we could use off-the-shelf systems in settlement. Using what we learned from our RFI, we are procuring a Partner to work with us to transform the BSC central systems and maintain the existing systems.
