Association of Electricity Producers (AEP)

The Association's role is to promote the interests of members who generate electricity, in a manner which helps to make those members' businesses more successful. The Association's members are mainly companies that generate electricity for the wholesale electricity markets in the UK. Association of Meter Operators (AMO)

The Association of Meter Operators is a Trade Association for Meter Operators. A Meter Operator (MO) is a Company that contracts with either a Customer or a Supplier to install and maintain Meters, for measuring the flow of energy, in either the Electricity or Gas Markets. The MO may also provide the Meters if required to do so. Many MOs also provide additional added value services to their contracts. MOs work with other organisations, such as Data Collectors, to ensure that Suppliers are able to accurately bill Customers for energy used.

BM Reports

The BMRA (Balancing Mechanism Reporting Agent) collects and publishes information regarding the electricity system in Great Britain. BM and System related information is sourced from the System Operator (National Grid), and Registration Information from the Central Registration Agent. BMRA performs and publishes indicative calculations for each settlement period.

Combined Heat and Power Association (CHPA)

The Combined Heat and Power Association works to promote the wider use of combined heat and power and community heating. Clean and efficient Combined Heat and Power (CHP) is already in use on close to 1,400 locations around the UK.

Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (DBERR)

The DBERR works with a wide range of individuals, groups and organisations to increase productivity and competitiveness in the United Kingdom. Formerly the Board of Trade (1621-1970), the DBERR, provides both information and guidance on a range of topics along with regularly updated statistics and data on energy usage and trends.

Energy Retail Association (ERA)

The Energy Retail Association, formed in 2003, represents suppliers in the competitive UK energy market.

The ERA was set up by the industry in order to identify areas where energy suppliers can work together for the common good without competitive advantage, seeking to build links with stakeholders to improve the profile of the sector with decision makers, opinion formers and consumers.

Energywatch

Energywatch is an independent consumer organisation created by Parliament to protect the interests of all domestic, commercial and industrial energy (gas and electricity) consumers. Complaints made by customers about gas and electricity companies which were formerly dealt with by Ofgem (for electricity) and the Gas Consumers Council (for gas), are now dealt with by energywatch.

Gemserv

Gemserv assists in the formation of multi-party agreements in order that organisations with different interests operating in a common industry can represent themselves to government, consumers and other public bodies.

Gemserv's origins reach back to the deregulation of the retail electricity industry in the 1990s.

Gemserv's clients include the Master Registration Agreement (MRA), the legal agreement that provides the contractual framework for the registration process required to support the competitive electricity market in the UK. National Energy Action (NEA)

NEA develops and promotes energy efficiency services to tackle the heating and insulation problems of low-income households. Working in partnership with central and local government; with fuel utilities, housing providers and health services; and with consumer organisations, NEA aims to eradicate fuel poverty and campaigns for greater investment in energy efficiency to help those who are poor or vulnerable.

Renewable Energy Association (REA)

The Renewable Energy Association (REA) was established in 2001 to represent British renewable energy producers and promote the use of sustainable energy in the UK. (The REA was originally called the Renewable Power Association until October 2005.) The REA’s main objective is to secure the best legislative and regulatory framework for expanding renewable energy production in the UK.
