Association of Electricity Producers (AEP)

The Association's role is to promote the interests of members who generate electricity, in a manner which helps to make those members' businesses more successful. The Association's members are mainly companies that generate electricity for the wholesale electricity markets in the UK. Association of Meter Operators (AMO)

The Association of Meter Operators is a Trade Association for Meter Operators. A Meter Operator (MO) is a Company that contracts with either a Customer or a Supplier to install and maintain Meters, for measuring the flow of energy, in either the Electricity or Gas Markets. The MO may also provide the Meters if required to do so. Many MOs also provide additional added value services to their contracts. MOs work with other organisations, such as Data Collectors, to ensure that Suppliers are able to accurately bill Customers for energy used.

BM Reports

The BMRA (Balancing Mechanism Reporting Agent) collects and publishes information regarding the electricity system in Great Britain. BM and System related information is sourced from the System Operator (National Grid), and Registration Information from the Central Registration Agent. BMRA performs and publishes indicative calculations for each settlement period.

ELEXON Portal

A website that provides central access to existing BSC Agent applications such as the BMRS, the ECVAA Web Service and Online Forms. It also provides online access to the BSC Service Desk for logging Service Desk calls and tracking their progress. Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds are also available. These feeds provide you with live operational information and allow you to subscribe to specific FAQ information.

BSC Service Desk

The BSC Service Desk portal is used to create and track:

  • Incidents or Requests relating to BM Reports.
  • File Resend Requests.
  • XSec or Tibco Requests (Including software orders).
  • Report Generation Requests (E0221 and E0131 Only).

Combined Heat and Power Association (CHPA)

The Combined Heat and Power Association works to promote the wider use of combined heat and power and community heating. Clean and efficient Combined Heat and Power (CHP) is already in use on close to 1,400 locations around the UK.

Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR)

The BERR works with a wide range of individuals, groups and organisations to increase productivity and competitiveness in the United Kingdom. Formerly the Board of Trade (1621-1970), the BERR, provides both information and guidance on a range of topics along with regularly updated statistics and data on energy usage and trends.

Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC)

Created in October 2008, to bring together energy policy and climate change mitigation policy. Climate change and energy policies are inextricably linked and decisions in one field cannot be made without considering impacts in the other. ECVAA Web Service (EWS)

The ECVAA Web Service is a secure web service sub-divided into three sections:

  • BSC Party service. - used by Parties to see their notification position for the remainder of today and for the next seven days;
  • ECVN Agent service. - used by ECVN Agents to see their notification ECVN position for the remainder of today and for the next seven days. A further section available to this user type allows the user to submit ECVNA Notifications via a web form;
  • MVRN Agent service. - used by MVRN Agents to see their notification MVRN position for the remainder of today and for the next seven days. A further section available to this user type allows the user to submit MVRNA Notifications via a web form; and
  • Log on to this service is secured by an encrypted credentials file that is submitted at logon time.

The details of existing Notifications include both single and dual notification submissions where appropriate and provide clarity on matched and unmatched submissions for dual notification users.

This BMRS website provides near real time and historic data about the Balancing Mechanism which is used by the National Grid (System Operator) as a means of balancing power flows on to and off the electricity Transmission System in Great Britain.

Energy Networks Association (ENA)

The ENA is the trade association for UK energy transmission and distribution licence holders and operators. It acts in the interest of its members in the energy 'wires and pipes' sectors. The ENA website includes emergency contact details for local electricity, transmission and distribution companies for reporting electricity emergencies and problems with supply.

Energy Retail Association (ERA)

The Energy Retail Association, formed in 2003, represents suppliers in the competitive UK energy market.

The ERA was set up by the industry in order to identify areas where energy suppliers can work together for the common good without competitive advantage, seeking to build links with stakeholders to improve the profile of the sector with decision makers, opinion formers and consumers.

Gas Forum

The Gas Forum was established in 1994. Its Members include every significant GB gas shipper and gas supplier ('gas shippers' own gas from import at the beach terminals to the point of delivery to customers premises where "gas suppliers" then sell the gas to the customer) along with Storage Operators and Off Shore Producers.

Gemserv

Gemserv assists in the formation of multi-party agreements in order that organisations with different interests operating in a common industry can represent themselves to government, consumers and other public bodies.

Gemserv's origins reach back to the deregulation of the retail electricity industry in the 1990s.

Gemserv's clients include the Master Registration Agreement (MRA), the legal agreement that provides the contractual framework for the registration process required to support the competitive electricity market in the UK. National Consumer Council

The National Consumer Council is an independent consumer organisation created by Parliament to protect the interests of all domestic, commercial and industrial energy (gas and electricity) consumers. Complaints made by customers about gas and electricity companies which were formerly dealt with by Ofgem (for electricity) and the Gas Consumers Council (for gas), are now dealt with by the National Consumer Council.

National Energy Action (NEA)

NETA Exchange

NETAEXCHANGE is a web based FTP tool that can be used by registered users of the site to deliver software, documents, scripts and results of scripts to and between Logica, BSC participants and ELEXON.

Some of the features of NETAEXCHANGE are:

  • Secure Login authentication process;
  • Access to common area to view and download software and documentation according to user privileges;
  • Access to private content area from where the user can view and download scripts specific to that user and also see the list of uploaded items that are meant for Logica;
  • The content uploaded for the user and by the user is inaccessible to other participants; and
  • Ability to upload logs, database dumps of NHHDA and EAC/AA for investigation by Logica if so requested. The maximum size for upload is 1GB.

Online Forms

The Online Forms system is a working prototype system developed to perform tasks undertaken by the manual BSCP system, providing an electronic interface to the BSCP forms. Access is limited to registered BSCP authorised individuals only, requiring a unique Username and Passkey (available form the BSC Service Desk) for successful login. BSCP users can save drafts and receive electronic confirmation of the registration changes applied.

Renewable Energy Association (REA)

The Renewable Energy Association (REA) was established in 2001 to represent British renewable energy producers and promote the use of sustainable energy in the UK. (The REA was originally called the Renewable Power Association until October 2005.)
