Technical Operations

This section gathers together content focused on the more technical aspects relating to the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC).

	Balancing Mechanism Units. BM Units are used as units of trade within the Balancing Mechanism. Each BM Unit accounts for a collection of plant and/or apparatus, and is considered the smallest grouping that can be independently controlled.
	Grid Supply Point (GSP) Group Correction Factors. GGCFs are used to ensure that the total energy allocated to Suppliers in each GSP Group matches the energy entering the GSP Group.
	Losses. As energy travels from the point of production to the end user, some of it is 'lost' on the system. Under the BSC arrangements, these losses are accounted for with Line Loss Factors and Transmission Loss Multipliers.
	Market Domain Data. MDD is the central repository of reference data used by Suppliers, Supplier Agents and Licensed Distribution System Operators (LDSOs) in the retail electricity market.

	Profiling. What is a load profile, what are the eight profile classes, and how are they allocated?

	Unmetered Supplies. Any electronic equipment that draws a current and is connected to the Distribution Network without a meter recording its energy consumption is an Unmetered Supply, such as street lighting.
