High Grade Service (HGS)/Low Grade Service (LGS) Communications Lines

PDF IconSection O - Communications Under the Code(37Kb) (BSC), in conjunction with the Code Subsidiary documents referred to therein, requires Parties and CVA Party Agents (Energy Contract Volume Notification Agents (ECVNAs), Metered Volume Reallocation Notification Agents (MVRNAs) and CVA Meter Operation Agents (MOAs)) to establish and prove electronic and manual interfaces with BSC Agents.

Participants interface with BSC Agents electronically via High Grade (HGS) or Low Grade Service (LGS) Communication Lines. The Low Grade Service allows participants to send and receive flows via the public internet, whilst the High Grade Service involves the installation of a dedicated communication line to transfer information. For further information on the HGS and LGS, please refer to the Participant Communications Definition Document, which is accessible from the table below.

Any participant requiring a copy of the PCIG (Participant Communications Installation Guide), PCSec User Guide or PCSec Installation Guide should contact the BSC Service Desk on 0870 010 6950 or by email at bscservicedesk@logica.com.

To place an order for the HGS/LGS refer to the ‘Communication Line Request Form’ available from the table below. Applicants may order both a HGS and LGS if required, or switch from one service to the other at a later date.

Balancing Mechanism Reporting Service (BMRS) Data for non-BSC Parties

Following the implementation of Modification Proposal 52 (P52), non-BSC Parties can gain access to BMRS data via the High Grade Service communication line. Such applicants are required to complete a Communication Line Request Form and indicate their Non BSC Party status by ticking the appropriate box. The form should then be submitted to the ELEXON Customer Operations Team.

The Applicant will be required to provide a letter outlining the reasons why they require access to the High Grade link. The application is then assessed, and if approved, the Applicant will be asked to sign two copies of the BMRS Licence Agreement and return them to ELEXON. Following the countersigning of both Agreements by ELEXON, the order is then passed to Logica for processing. Refer to the table below to download the checklist for Non-BSC Parties.

Cancellation of HGS/LGS

Participants wishing to cancel their Communication Lines should complete the form in the table below entitled Word IconCancellation of HGS/LGS(94Kb) . Upon completion, this form should be submitted to the ELEXON Customer Operations Team.

If you require further information, please contact the team on market.entry@elexon.co.uk.
