Reporting and Monitoring - PARMS Reporting
This section describes PARMS and the PARMS Reporting process.
PARMS stands for the Performance Assurance Reporting and Monitoring System.
PARMS is a database that contains information about the performance of
Suppliers and their Supplier Hubs as well as Market Indicator data on industry
performance.
PARMS data is used primarily for monitoring by ELEXON. The data is analysed and
reports are provided to the
Performance Assurance Board (PAB). Data from PARMS supports the
BSC Audit and information is periodically provided to the
BSC Panel and other Panel Committees and
Modification Groups.
PARMS data also supports two other techniques,
Supplier Charges and
Peer Comparison. To find out more about these techniques refer to the
menu alongside.
PARMS data is provided from Suppliers, Supplier Agents (who provide data on
behalf of their Suppliers), Supplier Meter Registration Agents (SMRAs) and the
Supplier Volume Allocation Agent (SVAA).
Each data provider sends data to ELEXON from a specific and authorised email
address and contact. Only data from that email address will be accepted and
processed into PARMS. PARMS data is provided on a monthly basis. Each calendar
month is known as a reporting period.
Suppliers receive a copy of PARMS data relating to their performance from the
SVAA and their Supplier Agents. Suppliers have five Working Days (WDs) from the
receipt of this data to validate the information. A Supplier may choose to
reject data provided by its Supplier Agent if it believes the data is
incorrect; however, it must ensure the Supplier Agent makes a full
resubmission. Additionally Suppliers provide ELEXON with a Data Provider
Information (DPI) file for each reporting period. The DPI tells PARMS which
Agents a Supplier has appointed in each GSP Group so PARMS knows what data to
expect on behalf of that Supplier.
PARMS data is divided into Serials. A Serial is a defined area for performance
measurement. The Serials are drawn from obligations within the BSC or Code
Subsidiary Documents. A
Guidance Note(52Kb)
is
available to download from the Related Documents menu to the right of this
page, detailing the content of each Serial.
ELEXON provide reports detailing Supplier performance across all the Suppliers’
own hubs for each Reporting Period. The report is sent to ELEXON Operational
Support Manager contacts with the following format:
Supplier PARMS Performance charts
The following charts provide a snap shot of Supplier PARMS performance for
Serials submitted during the latest available reporting period. The Serials are
split by HH and NHH, and are arranged to show the direction of flow between the
Supplier, the Supplier Agents, and SVAA/SMRA.
The chart below shows which D-flows are being measured by each Serial reported.

Each Serial that is reported on in the chart will display a performance value.
This measure on performance is based on the Standards for each Serial described
below.
