Andrew Pinder
Title: Chairman
Andrew was appointed as the new Chairman of the Balancing and Settlement Code Panel and the Balancing and Settlement Code Company (ELEXON Ltd) in January 2010. This post is effective from 1 October 2010 when Nick Durlacher CBE retired after 10 years service.
Andrew has wide-ranging, high profile experience at a senior level in both public and private sector financial and information technology organisations. His appointments include:
- The appointment, by Tony Blair, as e-Envoy (October 2000 – August 2004). He was directly responsible to the then Prime Minister for co-ordinating the development of the knowledge economy in the UK. His responsibilities included co-ordinating the government strategy, ensuring access and training, galvanising UK business and driving the e-agenda through government. The initiative was a partnership between Government, industry, the voluntary sector, trade unions and consumer groups.
- Non-Executive Director of Spring Group Plc (part of the Adecco Group) (March 2005 to present) an international recruitment and staffing agency.
- Non-Executive Director of United Utilities (September 2001 to October 2010).
Andrew had a long and distinguished career in both the private and public sectors. After 18 years in the Inland Revenue, where he became Director of IT, Andrew moved to the private sector, becoming Director of Operations and Technology at Prudential Corporation before joining Citibank Investment Bank as Head of European Operations and Technology.
Before his appointment at e-Envoy in 2001, he was engaged in a number of new technology–related start ups and, as a partner, in a small venture capital firm, as well as carrying out a number of management consultancy assignments for Government.
