December 2014 Special Release

Scope of the Release

We will have a “Special” Release in December 2014, to implement the following changes:

• Approved Modification P291 “REMIT Inside Information Reporting Platform for GB Electricity”;
• Approved Modification P295 “Submission and publication of Transparency regulation data via the BMRS”;
• Approved Modification P311 “Required Housekeeping Changes to Implement P291 and P295”; and
• Approved Modification P313 “Required Housekeeping Changes to Implement P295 and EMR”.

From 16 December 2014, the Balancing Mechanism Reporting Service (“BMRS”) website will publish Transparency Regulation data received from National Grid (for P295) and data received from participants (submitted via National Grid or the Elexon Portal) relating to Regulation on Wholesale Energy Markets Integrity and Transparency (REMIT) data (for P291).

REMIT and Transparency related data will be published on a new BMRS platform and can be accessed either via the current BMRS menu or a dedicated URL, which will be made available nearer the P295 Implementation Date.

With the new BMRS platform, we will be introducing a set of Representational state transfer (“REST”) Application Programming Interfaces (API) which will allow you to retrieve BMRS data. For the December 2014 Special Release, only Transparency data and REMIT data will be available through the REST API .

We will also provide a REST API User Guide to help you select the data you want to access in the most efficient manner – and we’ll give you the opportunity to try out the REST API during Participant testing, so you should be ready to use it from day 1! Participant testing will also give you the opportunity to try out submitting your REMIT data via the Elexon Portal.

Next year we will move all of the data currently available on the BMRS platform to a new User Interface and we’ll extend the APIs to allow you improved access to all data on BMRS.
