CAP increase announced for 16 June 2021

On Wednesday 16 June 2021, the CAP value will increase to £77/MWh. This follows a consultation which closed Tuesday 25 May 2021 with no responses disagreeing to the proposal.

About the consultation

A Consultation paper on the value of the Credit Assessment Price (CAP) was issued on Monday 17 May 2021 following a breach of the CAP trigger level. BSC Parties were invited to indicate whether they agreed with the proposal to increase the value of the CAP to £77/MWh, from last notified value of £70/MWh.

The consultation closed on Tuesday 25 May 2021. No responses disagreed with the proposed value and therefore, in accordance with the CAP Review Guidance, a Credit Committee meeting will not be held.

Outcome of the consultation

On Wednesday 16 June 2021, the CAP value will increase to £77/MWh. As a result, Parties may notice a change in their Credit Cover Percentage, and should review the amount of Credit Cover lodged. Please note the last notified CAP value of £70/MWh will still be implemented on 3 June 2021.

The CAP review trigger level value will also increase to +/- £8/MWh.
