Glossary Term: Line Loss Factor

Acronym: LLF

As energy is transported from the point of production to the end user, some of it is lost. Under the BSC arrangements there are two ways in which these losses are accounted for: Losses on the Distribution Networks; and Losses on the Transmission System. Losses on the Distribution Networks are allocated through the use of Line Loss Factors (LLFs).

Licensed Distribution System Operator (LDSOs) calculate Line Loss Factors (LLFs) to adjust metered volumes for losses on the distribution network. We receive LLF submissions from LDSOs and audit them before they are presented to the BSC Panel Subcommittees for approval and use in Settlement.

BSC defined definition

Means a multiplier which, when applied to data from a CVA Metering System connected to a Boundary Point on a Distribution System, converts such data into an equivalent value at the Transmission System Boundary.
