Summary
There is a current discrepancy amongst the existing Codes of Practice (CoPs) with regard to the password requirements for Half Hourly (HH) metering. CP1264 suggests removing the password requirements around case sensitivity, and leaving it to the Meter Manufacturers and Meter Operators as to whether they wish to develop additional security or not.

Npower raised CP1264 on 17 September 2008. Elexon issued CP1264 for Industry Impact Assessment as part of CPC00644 on 03 October 2008. CP1264 was presented to the ISG on 25 November 2008 and the SVG on 02 December 2008. Both the ISG & SVG approved CP1264 for inclusion in the June 2009 Release. CP1264 was implemented on the 25 June 2009 as part of the June 2009 Release.
