IT Notices: Planned National Grid ESO work impacting EDT and EDL communications

National Grid ESO (NGESO) has informed us that it will be carrying out essential planned infrastructure maintenance activities which will impact the Electronic Data Transfer (EDT) and Electronic Data Logging (EDL) network connections on Thursday 7 April 2022 between 10:10 and 14:00 (BST).

What is happening?

National Grid ESO (NGESO) has informed us that it will be carrying out essential planned infrastructure maintenance activities which will impact the Electronic Data Transfer (EDT) and Electronic Data Logging (EDL) network connections on Thursday 7 April 2022 between 10:10 and 14:00 (BST). This is to complete the work previously advised in Elexon Circular EL03546.

How will I be impacted?

These works will potentially interrupt EDL and EDT connectivity. It is expected that approximately a quarter of all EDT and EDL connections will be impacted.

The exact impact will depend on the resilience set up of the station. If a party loses connectivity to EDL or EDT they should try using the reserve connection or retry a short while later.

Please make your IT teams responsible for EDT and EDL communications aware of this planned work, and make your control points aware that they may need to take telephone instructions from the Electricity National Control Centre (ENCC).

Do I need to take any further action?

Any BSC Parties having questions for National Grid regarding this planned outage should phone 0800 917 7111 or 0800 085 4806. Overseas callers should use +44 800 917 7111 and quote “NETA EDT”.

All Trading Points should notify their Control Points of this BM outage to ensure that they are prepared to take telephone instructions, or submit dynamic data changes to the ENCC.
