P135 proposes to calculate the ‘main’ energy imbalance price using a marginal methodology, in order to provide more appropriate price signals to incentivise market participants to contract forward to mitigate the risk of not being able to balance at Gate Closure. P135’s proposed change to the ‘main’ energy imbalance price is an interim solution limited to System Buy Price during ‘Periods of Demand Reduction’ only, so that implementation could potentially be achieved as soon as possible.

The BSC Panel recommended that the Proposed Modification should not be made. The Authority rejected the Proposed Modification on 26 September 2003.
