P375 ‘Metering behind the Boundary Point’
Formal title: Settlement of Secondary BM Units using metering behind the site Boundary Point
Summary
P375 proposes using Metering Equipment ‘behind’ the defined Boundary Point for Balancing Services (‘behind the Meter’), for Settlement purposes rather than the Boundary Point Meter.
This will allow balancing-related services on-site to be separated from imbalance-related activities, more accurately reflecting the balancing-energy volumes provided by the Balancing Service Provider (BSP).
P375 arose from Issue 70 ‘Settlement of Secondary BM Units using metering at the asset’.
Presentation on Modification P375
Iain Nicoll, metering team leader, gave a presentation on asset metering and how the proposals in Modification P375 work at the Energy Management Exhibition, London, in November 2019. See Iain’s slides for more detail.
Industry Expert Group
The P375 Modification Report was sent to Ofgem with a recommendation for approval on 16 December 2020. The necessary changes to the Code Subsidiary Documents (CSDs) underpinning the P375 solution are being developed in Q1 2021 by an Industry Expert Group (IEG). The IEG will be focusing on the necessary changes to CSDs to facilitate the ‘VLP Hub’ principle. If you are interested in participating in the IEG, please email [email protected]
Code of Practice 11
The new Code of Practice 11 document has been drafted as part of P375. At its meeting in December 2020, the Panel approved the document in its current form and it is therefore not subject to further changes. This document is provided for information on this webpage – see “Report Phase” section.
Next Events
The next Industry Expert Group meeting for P375 will be held on 3 March 2021. The purpose of this group is to agree the processes underpinning P375. If you are interested in participating, please email BSC Change ([email protected]).
