April 2017 System Price Analysis Report published

Posted: 16 May 2017

The System Price Analysis Report (SPAR) is our monthly report on Imbalance Pricing. It includes an overview and analysis of the previous month’s prices and pricing parameters. The April 2017 report is now available on the Operations Reports page of our website.

The SPAR aims to increase industry understanding of pricing, in light of the changes made as part of BSC Modifications P305 ‘Electricity Balancing Significant Code Review developments’ and P323 ‘Enabling inclusion and treatment of SBR in the Imbalance Price’ implemented in November 2015.

The average System Price in April was £27.22/MWh while the market was long and £65.82/MWh when the market was short. For two days over the month, 6 April and 11 April, the market was long for all Settlement Periods. On these days the average Net Imbalance Volume was 782MWh and 609MWh respectively. The average System Price on these days was £26.69/MWh and £26.93/MWh.

If you want to keep up to date with ELEXON’s pricing analysis, SPAR is published monthly on the Operations Reports page of our website.
