January System Price Analysis Report (SPAR)
The latest SPAR, reporting on January 2018, is now available on the System Price Analysis Report page of our website. The SPAR includes an appendix looking back at System Prices in 2017. Graph A2, below, looks at the frequency of high and low System Prices in 2017.
Out of 17,520 Settlement Periods in 2017, 51 had negative System Prices. The lowest System Price of the year was -£73.14/MWh in Settlement Period 18 on 28 May 2017.
There were 656 Settlement Periods in 2017 with a System Price exceeding £100/MWh. The highest System Price of the year was £1,509.80/MWh in Settlement Period 33 on 17 May 2017.
The System Price Analysis Report (SPAR) is our monthly report on Imbalance Pricing, and includes an overview and analysis of the previous month’s prices and pricing parameters. The SPAR aims to increase industry understanding of pricing, in light of the changes made as part of BSC Modifications P305 ‘Electricity Balancing Significant Code Review developments’ implemented in November 2015.
