September 2018 System Price Analysis Report published
The latest System Price Analysis Report (SPAR), reporting on September 2018, is available on the System Price Analysis Report page of our website.
The SPAR is our monthly report on Imbalance Pricing, and includes an overview and analysis of the previous month’s prices and pricing parameters. The SPAR aims to increase industry understanding of pricing, in light of the changes made as part of BSC Modification P305 ‘Electricity Balancing Significant Code Review developments’ implemented in November 2015. Further changes as part of P305 will come into effect on 1 November 2018.
An ELEXON Insight article accompanies this month’s SPAR, highlighting the negative System Price in Settlement Period 9 on 18 September. This negative System Price was seen during a Settlement Period when the system was short, which hasn’t occurred since the implementation of P305. As there were no unflagged actions remaining after Net Imbalance Volume (NIV) Tagging, the Market Index Price set the Replacement Price, and consequently the System Price.
The Market Index Price set the System Price in 68 Settlement Periods in September 2018.
