Clare Duffy

Clare Duffy is UK General Manager for ESB and is a chartered engineer with almost 20 years’ experience working in the power industry.

ESB is a leading independent generator in the GB market as well as a generator, supplier and network operator in the island of Ireland. Clare’s current responsibilities include leading a team of multi-disciplinary specialists in the London office supporting ESB achieve its UK growth strategy. Key responsibilities include developing early concept/feasibility stage generation investment and business development options; monitoring the UK investment outlook and market framework (policy/trends/regulation) to assess the impact on current and future business activities; and managing a UK Public Affairs programme.

Previous roles have included Operations Manager for ESB International, head of the Strategic Consultancy Group, project management roles with ESB International on power infrastructure developments in Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East and a power system protection engineer with ALSTOM in the USA and UK.

In addition to her roles with ESB, Clare sits on the Advisory Group for Wave Energy Scotland; chairs Energy UK’s Strategic Policy Committee; and is a member of the GB Committee of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce. She has post-graduate qualifications in accounting, finance, marketing and management.
