Prepare for testing

You will need to ensure you are prepared for testing before booking a CVA Qualification test slot. You should refer to the Qualification Checklist in Appendix 1 of BSCP70 – CVA Qualification.

When you are confident that you are prepared for testing:

  • ​Submit the test booking form BSCP70/01a to the Market Entry ([email protected]). Specify your preferred test date . Note that we require at least 10WDs notice for a new test slot.

​If you are also registering as an ECVNA or MVRNA:

​N.B All testing for different roles will be carried out at the same time so please submit the forms together.

Our service provider carries out the testing on our behalf. They will contact you a few days before your booked test slot to ensure you are fully prepared for testing.

​What do I need to do?

During the test you will be required to acknowledge all valid data flows sent to you by our service provider. You will be required to recognise and reject invalid data flows and there will be a need for you to create test flows to send back to our service provider.

​Details of the structure and format of these data flows please refer to the Interface Definition Documents (IDD’s).

​The specific flows you will be required to test will be listed within the test booking form you submitted to book your test slot. If you require any technical help, please contact the BSC Service Desk ([email protected]).

A Party can choose to apply for a waiver of CVA Qualification testing if they will be using systems that have already been tested by another BSC Party.

​Further details on the CVA Qualification Waiver process can be found in BSCP70.

​What do I need to do?

Submit a BSCP70/02 Application for Waiver of Qualification Tests to Market Entry ([email protected]). Submit the required supporting evidence. This should be a letter from the supporting BSC Party, stating that they are providing supporting services in each of the roles you intend to register in.

If you have concluded that no CVA data flows will be applicable to your setup or do not wish to test your System, then you may wish to opt out of CVA Qualification testing. we advise that you talk to Elexon about your decision to opt out of testing.

What do I need to do?

Submit BSCP70/01(a) indicating ‘No’ to all flows. This should be sent to Market Entry ([email protected]).

N.B. Opting out of CVA testing is done at the applicant’s own risk.

Await results

Following testing

If you have carried out testing our service provider will create a report of the test results and findings and send this to us for review.

​We will assess whether all tests have been sucesfully completed. Where the testing has been completed sucesfully. Our service provider will then send confirmation to you by email.

​Where testing has not be completed sucesfully they will contact you to discuss booking a further test slot ensuring you have enough time to resolve the issues identified.

​Waiver Application

If you have submitted an application to waive testing, we will review your application and the supporting evidence within 5WDs. We will be carrying out checks to ensure that the BSC Party’s system that you will be using has already completed testing in the relevant BSC Party roles.

​You will be informed of our decision to approve or reject the application by email. Where the application is rejected we will make clear our reasons for the rejection and discuss booking a test slot to carry out any necessary testing.
