Potential causes

Potential causes, or as they known in the Risk Evaluation Register: Risk Factors are the points of failure that could result in erroneous or estimated data entering Settlement. Elexon has identified a number of typical failure points related to this risk, parties should note the list is non-exhaustive, and not all risk factors are applicable to every role type.

  • Incorrectly installed Measurement Transformers (Current Transformers (CTs) and Voltage Transformers (VTs))
  • Incorrectly installed or configured Meters (e.g. incorrect ratios programmed into Meter, incorrect channel set up)
  • Faulty Metering Equipment batches
  • LDSO or MOA does not complete Commissioning of Metering Equipment correctly or at all
  • Third party (non-BSC) agents do not complete installation works correctly
  • On a change of HHMOA, the old MOA does not notify the new MOA that Commissioning has not been completed, or the new HHMOA does not complete Commissioning
  • Firmware upgrade leads to incorrectly programmed Meter
