019 CVA Risk: CVA Registrations

This page outlines the Risk that a Volume Allocation Unit (VAU) is registered incorrectly or not at all such that the Central Data Collection Agent (CDCA) does not collect any or the relevant data.

Those most likely to be affected by this risk are parties and party agents involved in the registration of new VAUs, the de-registration of VAUs, and those who transfer BM Unit’s between SVA and CVA.

Potential causes

Potential causes, or as they known in the Risk Evaluation Register: Risk Factors are the points of failure that could result in erroneous or estimated data entering Settlement.

Elexon has identified a number of typical failure points related to this risk, parties should note the list is non-exhaustive, and not all risk factors are applicable to every role type.

  • Volume Allocation Unit energised but not registered
  • Volume Allocation Unit de-energised and Meters removed but still registered
  • Volume Allocation Unit registered in CVA and SVA
  • Incorrectly registering a non-Settlement Metering System
  • Registrant fails to update registration details when required (e.g. a new circuit added)
