Elexon has been commissioned to undertake a number of programmes of work on behalf of the UK Government or the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem). These programmes of work have either involve implementing complex and far-reaching policy changes to the industry, like the Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement programme, or by administrating a short-term scheme for the industry, like the Energy Price Guarantee scheme.
Ongoing programmes

Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement
Programme status: Appointed as Programme Manager in April 2021
The Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) programme is one of the biggest changes to energy markets since retail competition was introduced in the late 1990s.
Elexon was appointed by Ofgem as the MHHS Programme Manager in April 2021. This role involves managing the activity of around 180 organisations across the energy sector to implement MHHS changes.

Energy Price Guarantee scheme administration
Programme status: Administered EPG scheme from October 2022 until March 2024.
The Energy Price Guarantee (EPG) was a temporary government program that capped the price of gas and electricity for domestic customers in the UK to help reduce the impact of the energy crisis.
Elexon managed the Scheme Administrator for the Energy Price Guarantee covering domestic electricity consumers in Great Britain. As the Scheme Administrator Elexon managed the estimation of domestic consumption and associated payment arrangements to and from Suppliers that take part in the scheme.
