At Elexon, our diverse and inclusive culture enables us to bring a wider understanding of industry needs and deliver more innovative solutions. We are committed to focusing on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiatives both internally and externally, ensuring our colleagues feel supported and are valued for who they are.

Our EDI mission

We want to:

  • provide true equality of opportunity
  • attract and retain diverse talent
  • listen to all voices
  • be representative of the communities we work in
  • be a role model for Diversity and Inclusion in the industry.

We make this commitment to our colleagues and stakeholders, and we aspire to create a safe space for all within our Elexon culture.

The EDI Steering Group

Our EDI Steering Group, formed of eight colleagues from across the organisation, is responsible for driving EDI events and activities at Elexon. Together, the group works to build colleague engagement with EDI by:

  • Facilitating monthly forums, where colleagues discuss EDI-related topics, learning from each other and sharing lived experiences. We’ve covered things like unconscious bias, working with diverse communication styles and experiences of non-native English speakers at work.
  • Encouraging colleague-led Diversity Dialogue sessions, where individuals talk about their personal experiences in a safe space. These sessions operate under the Chatham House Rule to ensure everyone feels comfortable.
  • Helping colleagues create Take Action Groups (TAGs) focusing on specific themes or days within the cultural calendar. In 2024 we had two colleague created TAGs, centering on Pride and National Inclusion Week. So far in 2025 we’ve had one TAG, focused on Eid.
  • Assisting colleagues to write blogs on topics and events that mean something to them, sharing that meaning with others.
  • Ensuring all new starters at Elexon attend an EDI awareness session led by an external trainer.

National Inclusion Week

During National Inclusion Week, we hosted events designed to promote inclusivity and awareness.

Our program featured activities, ranging from a quick 15-minute lunchtime lingo lesson to an engaging Neurodiversity Awareness session that sparked meaningful conversations. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate inclusion together.
