Digital Code – digital version of BSC available

Elexon has been working on an exciting project to develop a brand new site that will enable you to have much easier access to the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC) and its subsidiary documents, ‘the Digital Code’.

We’re delighted to announce that the first iteration is available and you can have a look and let us know what you think.

The new site containing the BSC text, guidance notes and subsidiary documents is the start of a move away from the legacy PDF document structure.

The Digital Code features an improved navigation structure, and the enhanced search functionality allows you to search the entire BSC text and supporting documents easily to find the information you are looking for.

Previously, the BSC and subsidiary documents have only been available as PDFs and this has brought some limitations to finding relevant information based on role or task. For example, our customers have previously told us that finding a piece of information can be difficult if the name of the document it’s contained in is unknown.

Now, you can search through the entire content collection for a piece of information. You can also search specific types of documents, such as the BSC itself, the BSC Procedures (BSCPs) and the metering Codes of Practice (CoPs).

Additional features to be added

This is the first version of the Digital Code product. We will be adding further enhancements and features to the site over the coming weeks and months, taking on board requests and feedback from our customers.

We will also publish a Digital Code roadmap in summer 2022.
