Summary

CoP 3, 5, 8 and 9 apply to Metering Systems that are predominantly Low Voltage (LV) Metering Systems. They specify the requirements for Metering Systems including fusing arrangements but do not specify the type of fuses to be sued for LV systems, where current transformer operated Meters are used. Where inappropriate fuses are used there is a potential for very high levels of fault current at the Meter giving rise to potential hazards. CP1211 proposes to amend CoP 3, 5, 8 and 9, to require BS 88 type fuses for LV current transformer operated Metering Systems. Such fuses are designed to withstand the very high levels of fault current available from the distribution systems.

Progression

CP1211 was raised on 7 September 2007. CP1211 was issued for Industry Impact Assessment as part of CPC00615. CP1211 was presented to the ISG (ISG82/01) and SVG (SVG82/03) for decision on Progression. Following discussion concerning whether fusing requirements should be included in the CoPs the ISG and SVG deferred their decision until the next meetings. CP1211 was presented to the SVG (SVG88/04) on 03 June 2008 for a decision on progression. The SVG rejected CP1211. CP1211 was presented to the ISG (ISG89/02) for a decision on progression. The ISG rejected CP1211.
