Summary

CP1466 proposes to remove the requirement of protocol approval and compliance testing for Smart Metering Equipment Technical Specifications (SMETS) compliant Meters. This will be achieved by removing SMETS compliant Meters from the scope of BSCP601.

Progression

CP1466 was raised by Elexon on 14 June 2016. The new CP Progression Paper was presented to the SVG for information on 2 August 2016, and the ISG for information on 23 August 2016. The CP was issued for consultation on 12 September 2016 with responses due 7 October 2016. The SVG approved CP1466 on 1 November 2016. The ISG rejected CP1466 on 22 November 2016. As outlined in the SVG and the ISG Terms of Reference, when Committees have conflicting views, the matter shall revert back to the Panel for final decision. The Panel approved CP1466 on 8 December 2016.

Next Events

CP1466 will be implemented on 23 February 2017 as part of the February 2017 BSC Systems Release.
