P355 – Introduction of a BM Lite Balancing Mechanism
Formal title: Introduction of a BM Lite Balancing Mechanism
Current Status
Summary
P355 seeks to introduce a new BM Lite classification to allow smaller generators to offer energy to the System Operator for energy balancing, in competition with the larger BM Units already in the market.
Progression
The Proposer formally withdrew P355 on 30 August 2018. Following the approval of P344 ‘Project TERRE implementation into GB market arrangements’, the Proposer is content that P344 addresses the primary P355 defect, to allow greater participation from smaller generators and aggregators in the Balancing Mechanism. P355 formally closed on Friday 7 September 2018, as it was not adopted during the adoption window.
P355 was raised by PeakGen on 21 June 2017. The Initial Written Assessment was presented to the BSC Panel at its meeting on 13 July 2017. The first Workgroup meeting was held on 2 August 2017. The second Workgroup meeting was held on 20 September 2017. The third Workgroup meeting was held on 23 October 2017. P355 was then put on hold, pending the outcome of P344.
